WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

The Interreg Med Programme Blue Growth Community supports project that contribute to faster blue growth in the Mediterranean. It seeks to reinforce the joint work between the various stakeholders in the sector: research bodies, training structures, public authorities and civil society. The Blue Growth Community’s projects aim to create innovative solutions to unlock the potential of a healthy and productive sea. This goal is articulated around sub-themes such as,marine renewable energy, maritime and coastal tourism, maritime surveillance,fisheries and aquaculture, biotechnology, and supporting the competitiveness of the blue economy sector.

WHAT RESULTS HAVE THEY OBTAINED ?

The Blue Growth Community has integrated dynamics between projects and transnational key stakeholders and the support of Mediterranean clusters active in Blue Economy. Results : its work is synthetized in informative factsheets on clusters, maritime surveillance, yachting, and blue energies, a policy paper, two position papers, regional recommendations, thematic reports, roadmaps and guidelines, etc.

Transferring corner platform and matchmaking

Description:

The 4helix + Cyber ??Space is a project integrated and collaborative virtual platform, functional to the realization of the key project activities, which is meant to become an efficient means to intensify collaboration with project stakeholders and beneficiaries (blue SMEs, knowledge providers, policy makers, stakholders , research institutions and universities, society). It is conceived as an instrument dedicated to the constant dialogue, coordination, brokering and consultation, in support of the 4helix + initiative.

3 Pillar Business Model (3-PBM) methodology

Description:

We performed 3 activities (Studying, Testing and Transferring) to design the 3-PBM methodology on yachting sector and its sustainability (economic, social and environmental). The triple scope was to: raise SMEs' awareness on their business model; bring out the consciousness on their capabilities; enhance the involvement of policy makers.

MAESTRALE geodatabase

Description:

Based on a survey of existing and innovative technologies, barriers and potentials, MAESTRALE aims to broaden knowledge-sharing among scientists, policy makers, entrepreneurs and citizens, and to foster measures and investments for Blue Growth.

Functionalities:

It provides a general overview on renewable marine energy potentials in the Mediterranean sea and works as a basis for investigating possible implementation of blue energy technologies, especially exploiting wave energy, offshore wind, salinity gradients, marine heat energy, marine currents.

On-line web platform

Description:

This platform envisions to become the go-to platform for organizations that want to explore the vast sea of opportunities that the Marine Renewable Energy has to offer. In specific, our Market Place includes: Cooperation: It offers a unique opportunity to the members of the Blue Energy Cluster to inform as regards their activities and promote their organizations. Technology: It gives the members of the Blue Energy Cluster the chance to showcase their innovative technologies and services that it includes ground breaking technologies that have the potential to tap into the unlimited power sources of the oceans.

Functionalities:

The Blue Energy Cluster platform solves the problem of the lack of innovation and cooperation in the rising field of blue energy. The “Market Place” of the platform includes two modules: the Cooperation module and the Technology module. The Cooperation model gives organizations the opportunity to present and promote themselves, thus creating a database with innovative and influential actors in the field of marine renewable energy. The Technology module gives the members of the Blue Energy Cluster the chance to showcase their innovative technologies and services, including ground-breaking technologies that have the potential to tap into the unlimited power sources of the oceans.

MAESTRALE Blue Energy Labs

Description:

Blue Energy Labs: will serve as cooperating tools and meeting platforms for key actors involved in the Blue Energy Sector - public authorities, research centers, enterprises, and groups of citizens - operating in the MED area. BELs will take place in each participating region, with the aim to foster the development of transnational clusters and support the creation of public-private partnerships in order to lay the foundation for concrete initiatives of blue growth.

Maritime Surveillance Platform

Description:

In this module, the Knots will present after identifying and evaluating the ideas and technologies of their members (researchers, start-ups, entrepreneurs, SMEs) that have a satisfactory dynamic for business development. Additionally, Nodes in collaboration with Scientific Partners will present new business opportunities for the emerging Marine Surveillance Market that they have identified for their members and possible links with the Marine Surveillance sector.
